AUG. 22 -- SCOTT vs. EAST JESSAMINE

 

Game cancelled due to hazardous weather

 

AUG. 29 -- SCOTT 34, HOLMES 7
 

Scott scored on its first two offensive possessions with seniors Roberto London and Deondre Pleasant breaking free on touchdown runs of 42 and 51 yards, respectively. Both of them also scored on big plays later in game. Pleasant returned a punt 71 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter and London had a 56-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
 

Holmes opened the second half with an 86-yard drive that ended with tailback Delijah Ross-Tyus scoring on a 10-yard run. But the Bulldogs didn’t get much done on offense after that and finished with 238 total yards compared to 346 for the Eagles.
 

SEPT. 4 -- SCOTT 57, AIKEN 0

Junior running backs DeShon Lunsford and Roberto London each scored two touchdowns for the Eagles. Lunsford caught a pair of TD passes from quarterback Danny Fitzgerald. London scored on a 22-yard run and 14-yard pass reception.

Scott's first touchdown came on a 92-year breakaway run by Deondre Pleasant in the second quarter. He also had two interceptions on defense.

SEPT. 12 -- SCOTT 31, NEWPORT 14


After putting together a 95-yard touchdown drive on its second possession, Newport wasn’t able to move the ball effectively until the final seconds and Scott came away with the win.
 

Newport quarterback Paul Price threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Brian Burton on the final play of the team’s 95-yard scoring drive to give the Wildcats a 6-0 lead. Scott responded with a 59-yard scoring drive of its own. Senior running back Eli Sowder scored the touchdown on a 22-yard run and Logan Lawson kicked the extra point to put the Eagles ahead, 7-6.

In the second quarter, Scott extended its lead to 19-6 by scoring one touchdown following a blocked punt and another on a fumble return by defensive lineman Eli Humbert. 

 

A 43-yard touchdown run by junior running back Deondre Pleasant gave Scott a 25-7 lead in the third quarter. The Eagles scored again in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run by junior Jerry Berling to make it 31-7. Newport scored in the final seconds when Ryan Ochoa caught a 35-yard TD pass from Price.

SEPT. 19 -- SCOTT 48, HOLY CROSS 14

Scott relied entirely on the run to gain 402 yards and score seven touchdowns with its single-wing offense. The team leader was Roberto London, who picked up 208 yards on 17 carries and scored three times. Deondre Pleasant had 114 yards on 10 carries and two TDs.

Holy Cross finished with 168 yards (108 rushing, 60 passing). Xavier Abernathy scored both of the Indians’ touchdowns on rushing plays.

 

SEPT. 26 -- COOPER 42, SCOTT 7

Torey Cordell-Armstrong rushed for 144 yards and two touchdows in the first quarter to spark Cooper's win in the Class 5A district game. S
enior quarterback Billy Prickett also scored twice for the Jaguars and he completed 11 of 17 passes for 154 yards yards. 

On the first play from scrimmage, Cordell-Armstrong swept around the right end and cut back against the flow of defenders to break free on a 65-yard scoring run. A few minutes later, Scott scored on a 60-yard run by senior fullback Eli Sowder, but the Eagles’ didn’t come close to the end zone the rest of the night. They finished with 254 yards of total offense and committed three turnovers.

 


 

OCT. 10 -- SCOTT 43, GRANT COUNTY 0
 

Five players crossed into the end zone for Scott with senior Eli Sowder getting two of the touchdowns on a 17-yard blocked punt return and a 78-yard breakaway run. The Eagles had 362 rushing yards with the other scoring runs by Roberto London, DeShon Lunsford and Nelson Perrin. Deondre Pleasant scored the team’s other TD on a 13-yard pass from Danny Fitzgerald.
 

OCT. 17 -- SOUTH OLDHAM 17, SCOTT 6
 

After scoring the game’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run by quarterback Danny Fitzgerald, the Scott Eagles couldn’t find their way back to the end zone. The loss dropped Scott to last place in the Class 5A district standings.

OCT. 24 -- SCOTT 16, CONNER 15

 

With six minutes remaining in the Class 5A district game, Scott took the lead on a 62-yard touchdown run by Deondre Pleasant and a 2-point conversion run by Roberto London. It was the second touchdown of the game for Pleasant, who rushed for 150 yards on 15 carries. London picked up 81 yards on 17 carries, caught two passes for 22 yards and scored both of his team’s 2-point conversions.

 

Conner junior quarterback Kyler Padgett completed 13 of 30 passes for 230 yards and one TD. In the third quarter, he threw a 9-yard TD pass and a 2-point conversion pass to Joseph Warwick that gave the Cougars a 15-8 lead.

OCT. 31 -- MASON COUNTY 28, SCOTT 27

After falling behind 21-0 in the second quarter, Scott made an impressive comeback that fell one point short. 
Late in the fourth quarter, Scott running back Eli Sowder scored a touchdown on a 33-yard run to make it 28-27, but Deondre Pleasant was stopped short of the end zone on a two-point conversion attempt.


The Eagles’ first three touchdowns were scored by running back Roberto London on a pair of short runs in the second quarter and a 54-yard pass from Danny Fitzpatrick in the third quarter.
 

Mason County finished with a 300-279 edge in total yardage and both teams had a pair of turnovers.
