AUG. 22 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 31, EAST CENTRAL (Ind.) 14

Campbell County scored 18 straight points in the third and fourth quarters to come away with the victory in the interstate battle with East Central.

A 3-yard touchdown run by Josh Carroll sparked Campbell County's late scoring binge. In the fourth quarter, senior Juan Arguelles kicked a 25-yard field goal to put the Camels on top and junior quarterback Carson Plessinger clinched the win with a 22-yard TD run. The final stats had Plessinger rushing for 142 yards and two TDs. He also passed for 86 yards, including a 44-yard scoring strike to Matt Mayer.

AUG. 29 -- HIGHLANDS 23, CAMPBELL COUNTY 16

Highlands did all of its scoring in the first quarter and held off a fourth quarter rally by Campbell County to come away with
the victory.

 

Senior quarterback Beau Hoge scored two rushing touchdowns and threw a 40-yard scoring pass to Alex Venneman in the
first quarter when the Bluebirds opened up a 23-0 lead. The score didn’t change until the fourth quarter when Campbell
County junior quarterback Carson Plessinger scored 16 points on two rushing touchdowns and a pair of two-point conversions.

Plessinger ended up rushing for 135 yards and completing 3 of 9 passes for 80 yards. Hoge had 96 yards rushing and completed 15 of 25 passes for 183 yards in his debut as Highlands’ starting quarterback.

SEPT. 5 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 30, NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC 17
 

Junior quarterback Carson Plessinger rushed for 77 yards, scored three touchdowns and passed for 86 yards to lead the Campbell County offense.
 

Late in the second quarter, NewCath scored its first touchdown on a 1-yard run by Jacob Smith to make the score 9-7. But the Camels ran off 21 straight points to take control of the game.
 

Campbell County’s defense had eight quarterback sacks and scored the first points of the game on a safety.

SEPT. 12 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 17, COOPER 7

Cooper took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter when Torey Cordell-Armstrong caught a screen pass and scored on 32-yard play. But that was the only touchdown the Jaguars were able to get against a Campbell County defense that held them to 122 total yards with the help of five quarterback sacks. 

Campbell County turned the ball over on four its first seven offensive possessions before getting its first touchdown on a 3-yard run by Josh Carroll late in the third quarter. A 22-yard field goal by Trey Schierenbeck gave the Camels a 10-7 lead in the fourth quarter and junior quarterback Carson Plessinger scored on a 5-yard run with less than two minutes left to clinch the victory.

Plessinger picked up 210 yards on 29 carries and Carroll had 74 yards on 15 carries for the Camels. Cooper senior quarterback Billy Prickett completed 13 of 26 passes for 129 yards.


 

 

SEPT. 19 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 48, CONNER 28

Campbell County scored 28 unanswered points in the second and third quarters to open up a 35-7 lead and came away with the win.

Junior quarterback Carson Plessinger scored one of his two rushing touchdowns and threw a 13-yard TD pass to Gabe Kremer during Campbell County’s scoring run. The Camels’ leading rusher was Josh Carroll, who picked up 104 yards and scored twice.

Conner quarterback Kyler Padgett completed 24 of 37 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Tyler Arnold caught one of the scoring passes and had a 13-yard TD run for the Cougars.

OCT. 3 -- SIMON KENTON 45, CAMPBELL COUNTY 14
 

Simon Kenton senior Logan Winkler returned the opening kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown and the Pioneers scored 35 unanswered points in the second half to win the Class 6A district game and remain undefeated on the season.
 

The Pioneers had a slim 10-7 lead when the second half started before junior running back Dillion Powell ignited the offense with a 76-yard touchdown run. By the end of the third quarter, Simon Kenton had opened up a 31-7 lead and capped off its scoring surge with touchdown runs by Powell and Kyle Heflin in the final period.

Powell ended up with 214 rushing yards. Sophomore quarterback Cameron Racke completed 14 of 20 passes for 152 yards. Winkler, who also caught a TD pass in the third quarter, had 146 all-purpose yards in receiving (41), rushing (17) and returns (88).

Campbell Copunty quarterback Carson Plessinger had 97 yards passing and 50 yards rushing. His 12-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Kremer tied the score at 7-7 in the second quarter. But one of Plessinger’s passes was intercepted and he had one of the team’s two fumbles.

OCT. 10 -- DIXIE HEIGHTS 43, CAMPBELL COUNTY 0

Senior quarterback Drew Moore rushed for 186 yards on 15 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead Dixie Heights to the Class 6A district win. The Colonels finished with 405 total rushing yards. Cameron Barrett picked up 103 yards on seven carries and Luke Zajac had 93 yards on 12 carries. Both of them also scored a touchdown.

 

Campbell County was limited to 67 yards rushing and went 0-for-11 passing with two interceptions. The Camels also turned the ball over three times on fumbles during the rain-soaked game.  

OCT. 17 -- RYLE 21, CAMPBELL COUNTY 14 OT

After Ryle senior running back Ryan Woolf scored on a 9-yard run on his team’s possession in overtime, Campbell County wasn’t able to get the ball into the end zone.

The victory moved the Ryle Raiders into a tie for second place in the Class 6A district standings. They will finish in a three-way tie for first place if they beat Dixie Heights in their final regular-season game.

Colin England scored on a 30-yard run and 7-yard run in the first half for Ryle. Campbell County’s first touchdown came on a 1-yard run by junior quarterback Carson Plessinger. In the fourth quarter, a 30-yard pass from Plessinger to Gabe Kremer scored the touchdown that sent the game into overtime.


 

OCT. 24 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 28, BOONE COUNTY 14

 

Campbell County senior Eli Matthews returned the second-half kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and scored on a 46-yard run in the fourth quarter to lead the Camels to victory in the Class 6A district game.


Boone County got the game’s first touchdown on a 61-yard scoring pass from quarterback Jamar Lamb to Jerry Marshall in the first quarter, but that was the only time the Rebels were ahead.

OCT. 31 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 44, HOLY CROSS 7

Junior quarterback Carson Plessinger rushed for 137 yards and three touchdowns and completed 9 of 13 passes for 166 yards and two TDs in the Camels’ victory. Plessinger accounted for 303 of his team’s 415 yards in total offense. Running back Josh Carroll picked up 100 yards on nine carries. Gabe Kremer caught seven passes for 136 yards and two TDs.

Holy Cross was limited to 213 yards in total offense. Junior quarterback Hamilton Scott rushed for a team-high 88 yards and  scored the Indians’ only touchdown on a 3-yard run in the first quarter. He also competed 7 of 18 passes for 44 yards.
