Boone County Rebels 

AUG. 23 -- COVINGTON CATHOLIC 39, BOONE COUNTY 6

Senior quarterback Adam Wagner threw five touchdown passes in the second quarter to lead CovCath to victory in the season-opening game that was called at halftime due to excessive heat.

Logan McDowell caught the first three touchdown passes with one covering 44 yards. Lee McClure pulled down the last two TD passes, including a catch-and-run that went 52 yards. Wagner ended up completing 12 of 15 passes for 230 yards to account for most of CovCath’s 317-yard total.

Boone County put together a 13-play, 75-yard scoring drive that ended with Jerry Marshall’s 1-yard run into the end zone. That made the score 13-6 with 7:18 left in the second quarter, but CovCath ran off 26 straight points behind the passing of Wagner. The Rebels had 175 total yards (122 passing, 53 rushing).

AUG. 29 -- BOONE COUNTY 49, CONNER 26
 

Boone County scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to open up a 35-14 halftime lead and snapped a 17-game losing streak that began in the 2012 season. It was also the Rebels' first win under head coach Jeff Griffith after going 0-11 in his first season with the program.

Jerry Marshall scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half for the Rebels. His first one covered 62 yards. Boone County quarterback Jamar Lamb threw a pair of TD passes to Rondell Douglas. The second one was an 80-yard strike that gave their team a 42-13 lead in the third quarter.

Conner junior quarterback Kyler Padgett had one rushing touchdown and threw TD passes to Isaiah Ebarb and Peyton Weil in his varsity debut.

SEPT. 5 -- COOPER 31, BOONE COUNTY 6

Junior running back Torey Cordell-Armstrong scored two rushing touchdowns and senior quarterback Billy Prickett threw two TD passes to account for most of Cooper’s scoring.

Cooper finished with 458 total yards compared to Boone County’s 197. Armstrong picked up 166 yards on 20 carries and Prickett completed 16 of 232 passes for 213 yards.

Boone County scored late in the fourth quarter on a 10-yard pass from Jamar Lamb to Dylon Bishop. That’s the first touchdown the Jaguars have given up this season.

SEPT. 12 -- LEXINGTON LAFAYETTE 30, BOONE COUNTY 14

Boone County wide receiver Chandler Feinhauer caught a 5-yard touchdown passes from junior quarterback Jamar Lamb that cut Lafayette’s lead to 20-14 in the third quarter, but the Rebels weren’t able to score after that.

Boone County’s first touchdown came on a 17-yard pass from Lamb to Dylan Bishop in the second quarter.

 

SEPT. 19 -- LEXINGTON HENRY CLAY 49, BOONE COUNTY 7

Henry Clay ran off 28 straight points before Boone County got on the scoreboard with a 10-yard run by Jerry Marshall in the second quarter.

In the second half, Henry Clay’s defense returned a fumble for a touchdown and got a 2-point safety.

Boone County senior quarterback Jamar Lamb threw for 176 of the Rebels' 258 total yards. Marshall had 42 of the team's 82 rushing yards.

SEPT. 26 -- DIXIE HEIGHTS 38, BOONE COUNTY 7

Luke Zajac scored three of Dixie Heights' six rushing touchdowns and finished with 174 all-purpose yards to lead the Colonels in the Class 6A district game. Zajac rushed for 120 yards on 12 carries, caught two passes for 30 yards and had a 24-yard kick return.

Dixie Heights finished with 357 total yards while holding Boone County to 112 yards. The Rebels' only touchdown came on a 67-yard pass from 
Jamar Lamb to Rondell Douglas with 4:57 left in the game.

OCT. 3 -- RYLE 48, BOONE COUNTY 13
 

Ryle took a 35-7 lead in the first half when quarterback Ryan Rytlewski scored on a 1-yard run and then threw two touchdown passes to Grant Arnwein. Ryan Woolf, Colin England and Mitchell Bateman also had rushing TDs for the Raiders.

The Raiders had 494 yards in total offense with most of it coming on the ground. England finished with 169 rushing yards on 18 carries and scored twice. Rytlewski was 9-for-19 for 130 yards in passing.

Boone County’s first scoring play was a 91-yard pass from Jamar Lamb to Carlos Figueroa that cut Ryle’s lead to 13-7 in the first quarter. But the Rebels weren’t able to score again until the third quarter when Randall Douglass reached the end zone on a 17-yard run. 

OCT. 10 -- SIMON KENTON 27, BOONE COUNTY 21

Dillion Powell scored on a 4-yard run with 1:54 left on the clock to give Simon Kenton the victory in the Class 6A district game. It was the second TD of the game for Powell, who finished with 148 yards on 25 carries. Logan Winkler scored the Pioneers’ other two touchdowns on passes from Cameron Racke.

Boone County tied the score early in the fourth quarter when Ryan Vickers caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Jamar Lamb and Carlos Figueroa ran in the 2-point conversion. The Rebels also scored on a 1-yard run by Jerry Marshall in the first quarter and an 85-yard kickoff return by Aaron Floyd in the second quarter.

 

OCT. 24 -- CAMPBELL COUNTY 28, BOONE COUNTY 14

 

Campbell County senior Eli Matthews returned the second-half kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and scored on a 46-yard run in the fourth quarter to lead the Camels to victory in the Class 6A district game.


Boone County got the game’s first touchdown on a 61-yard scoring pass from quarterback Jamar Lamb to Jerry Marshall in the first quarter, but that was the only time the Rebels were ahead.
 

OCT. 31 -- LEXINGTON CATHOLIC 36, BOONE COUNTY 14

Boone County’s defense couldn’t contain Lexington Catholic quarterback Ryan Reese, who threw touchdown passes to four different receivers. The Rebels’ touchdowns came on a 30-yard run by sophomore Corstin Cahill late in the first quarter and a
5-yard run by senior Jamar Lamb in the fourth quarter.
